Cardinal Mill Phased Rehabilitation Project:
The Cardinal Mill is an historic 7000 Sq foot Gold, Silver and Tungsten Mill in the historic town of
Cardinal. Boulder County Parks and Open Space purchased the property to renovate the mill and
preserve the rich mining history of Boulder County.
Deterioration of the foundation, point loads, post and beam structure and almost all of the roofing and
rafters, threatened to collapse the entire structure and ruin the historic mining equipment still installed
inside.
The construction was broken down into distinct phases for budget and grant funding reasons. Milo
Construction worked directly with Boulder County to create pre-construction budgets and pare down
the construction into the absolute necessities for stabilization and eventual use by the public. Grant
funding was obtained with these estimates.
We were awarded the contract for the first phase and the subcontract for structural work on the
building during the rebuilding of the adjacent Cribbed retaining wall done by Yenter Companies.
